The study is examining web based resources to help youth development professionals (YDPs) work with adolescents about sex, sexuality and sexual health as well as handling issues in their work with youth related to these topics. You do not have to have any experience handling sexual health at your organization in order to participate. It is perfectly fine if you know nothing about the topic and you don’t do anything about it. The research involves approximately 2 hours of your time. You will complete some questionnaires and use a pilot web site that includes videos, animations, and other resources to help YDP address sexual health. Your involvement can occur any time you want and can be done from your home, work, or even on most smartphones or tablets. However, you must finish before April 2nd so we can use your information to determine what needs to be done next. There is minimal risk involved in the study as you will be completing surveys about your perspectives, opinions, and experiences with the topic and with using the site. Your information will be completely confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the study team. Please note, however, that child abuse, sexual or otherwise, is subject to mandatory reporting in most jurisdictions. We do not ask you directly about these situations. However, if you choose to disclose, during the course of this study, any situation in which you may have reason to believe abuse occurred, or is ongoing, and you failed to report the abuse or suspected abuse, you could be subject to civil liability or criminal prosecution. You are under no obligation to complete the study and may discontinue participation at any time. All participants will have the option to be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card. We are asking that people who participate in this evaluation of the pilot site be at least 19 years old, currently regularly work in a youth serving community-based organization for at least 3 months and have direct contact with youth for at least 8 hours/week. Please feel free to share this message with others who may be interested in participating. Sincerely, Richard Goldsworthy, PhD Academic Edge, Inc.
